Arkansas, northeast Louisiana, central Mississippi, north central
Mississippi, south central Mississippi, southwest Mississippi,
and west central Mississippi.

DANGEROUS HEAT
THREAT...Elevated
TIMING...This afternoon through Tuesday

Dangerous heat is likely today and Tuesday, with peak heat index
values ranging from 105 to 110 degrees. Heat exhaustion will be
likely with outdoor activity.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday night through Sunday

Dangerous heat is expected to increase across the region
Wednesday through the remainder of the week, especially going
into the weekend. Take precautions to avoid heat related illness
by limiting strenuous outdoor activities.

.SPOTTER CALL TO ACTION STATEMENT...
The activation of storm spotters, HAM radio operators, and
emergency management personnel in support of severe weather
operations is not expected through next Sunday.

...HEAT ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM CDT TUESDAY...

* WHAT...Heat index values between 105 and 109 degrees expected.

* WHERE...Portions of northeast Louisiana, southeast Arkansas, and
much of Mississippi.

* WHEN...Until 8 PM CDT Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
illnesses to occur.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out
of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young
children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles
under any circumstances.

Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When
possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when
possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational
Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent
rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone
overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.
