This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of eastern and
central Missouri as well as west central and southwest Illinois.

.DAY ONE...Tonight.

There is a chance of thunderstorms tonight, mainly along and north
of I-70.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday.

An Excessive Heat Warning and a heat advisory are in effect for
portions of the area on Thursday with heat indices between 100 and
110 degrees.

There is a chance of thunderstorms over parts of the area through
Saturday. The greatest chance will be from Thursday through Friday
night. A few storms could become strong to severe late Thursday,
mainly over portions of northeast Missouri.

...EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM CDT
THURSDAY...

* WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 108.

* WHERE...Portions of south central and southwest Illinois. Portions
of central, east central, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...Until 11 PM CDT Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during
extreme heat and high humidity events.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and
pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any
circumstances. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time
outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early
morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion
and heat stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when
possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational
Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest
breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by
heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is
an emergency! Call 9 1 1.
