Quapaw, OK Weather Warnings Issue Date: 803 PM CDT Tue Jul 5 2022 ...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM TO 8 PM CDT WEDNESDAY... ...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM TO 8 PM CDT THURSDAY... * WHAT...Heat index values of 105 to 110 degrees expected. * WHERE...Portions of east central, northeast and southeast Oklahoma and northwest and west central Arkansas. * WHEN...1 PM to 8 PM both Wednesday and Thursday. * IMPACTS...The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a dangerous situation in which heat illnesses are possible. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when possible and drink plenty of water. To reduce risk during outdoor work the occupational safety and health administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. DANGEROUS HEAT. RISK...Elevated. AREA...Eastern Oklahoma and Northwest Arkansas. ONSET...Ongoing. DISCUSSION... Heat index values of 100 to 108 degrees are ongoing across much of eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas. Overnight low temperatures will remain warm providing only minimal relief from the ongoing excessive heat. SPOTTER AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ACTION STATEMENT... Spotter Activation Not Expected. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday. WEDNESDAY and THURSDAY...Dangerous Heat Potential. FRIDAY and SATURDAY...Thunderstorm and Dangerous Heat Potential. SUNDAY and MONDAY...Dangerous Heat Potential. EXTENDED DISCUSSION... A dangerous heat wave is expected to persist all week. Afternoon heat index values each day will top out in the 105 to 110 degree range. A weak front may provide minor relief from the heat by late Friday into Saturday for some, while also potentially focusing a few showers and storms. The heat will intensify again for Sunday and Monday. EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT PLANNING STATEMENT...
