Rosslyn, VA Weather Warnings Issue Date: 305 AM EDT Sat Sep 23 2023 ...COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM EDT SUNDAY... * WHAT...Up to one foot of inundation above ground level in low lying areas due to tidal flooding. * WHERE...Shoreline in the City of Alexandria and Arlington County. * WHEN...Until 6 AM EDT Sunday, especially around the time of high tide. * IMPACTS...Water is expected to approach buildings near King Street and Union Street. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Tides two to two and a half feet above normal. The next high tide at Alexandria is at 3:04 PM and 3:27 AM. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property. && Issue Date: 941 PM EDT Fri Sep 22 2023 This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for the Maryland portion of the Chesapeake Bay, Tidal Potomac River, and I-95 corridor through central Maryland, northern Virginia, and District of Columbia. .DAY ONE...Tonight A Coastal Flood Warning is in effect for St. Mary`s County beginning at 2 AM. Moderate to major tidal flooding is expected. A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Calvert and St. Mary`s Counties, over the Chesapeake Bay south of North Beach MD, and the lower tidal Potomac River southeast of Cobb Island MD. Sustained tropical storm force winds are most likely over these areas. A Gale Warning is in in effect for the Chesapeake Bay and adjoining estuaries north of North Beach MD and the lower tidal Potomac River from Key Bridge to Cobb Island MD. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday A Wind Advisory is in effect from 8 AM Saturday morning to 8 PM Saturday evening. Gusty winds and saturated ground will result in downed trees. Coastal Flood Warnings are in effect Saturday morning through Sunday morning for the shoreline of Washington DC and Anne Arundel County for moderate tidal flooding, and for St. Mary`s County through Saturday night for near major tidal flooding. Isolated instances of flooding due to heavy rainfall are possible Saturday and Saturday night. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... Spotter activation is not expected at this time. WIND ADVISORY Issue Date: 143 PM EDT Fri Sep 22 2023 ...WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 8 AM TO 8 PM EDT SATURDAY... * WHAT...Northeast winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph expected. Gusts up to 50 mph are likely along the immediate shore of the Chesapeake Bay and Tidal Potomac. * WHERE...Portions of central, northeast and southern Maryland, The District of Columbia and central and northern Virginia. * WHEN...From 8 AM to 8 PM EDT Saturday. * IMPACTS...Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The combination of a long period of gusty winds and increasingly saturated grounds from rain will result in a higher likelihood for downed trees across the area.
