...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 445 PM MST THIS AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...Portions of extreme southern Navajo County and eastern
Gila County in north-central Arizona, near Carrizo.

* WHEN...Until 445 PM MST.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in creeks and normally dry washes is
imminent or occurring. Water flowing over roadways will create
slick paved roads and muddy unpaved roads.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 243 PM MST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly in the advisory area. Between 0.5 and 1.5 inches of
rain have fallen.
- This includes the following creeks, washes and rivers...
Turkey Canyon, Carrizo Creek, Corduroy Creek, Red Canyon, Mud
Creek, Cibecue Creek and V Eighteen Wash.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Carrizo and Fort Apache Reservation.
- This includes the following highways...
State Route 73 between mile markers 311 and 314.
Highway 60 between mile markers 306 and 327.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain.
Normally dry washes, slot canyons and creeks can become raging
killer currents in a matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.
