Whitefield, OK Weather Warnings Issue Date: 458 PM CDT Fri Sep 22 2023 ...SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS EXPECTED SATURDAY EVENING... This Outlook is for Northwest and West Central Arkansas as well as much of Eastern Oklahoma. .DAY ONE...Today and Tonight. THUNDERSTORMS WITH DANGEROUS LIGHTNING. RISK...Elevated. AREA...Far Southeast Oklahoma and Northwest Arkansas. ONSET...Ongoing. DISCUSSION... Scattered showers and storms across portions of southeast Oklahoma and west-central Arkansas will come to an end this evening. There is a slight chance isolated showers and storms may develop again across northwest Arkansas overnight tonight. However, most locations will remain dry and severe weather is not expected with any overnight activity. SPOTTER AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ACTION STATEMENT... Spotter Activation Not Expected. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday. SATURDAY and SUNDAY...Severe Thunderstorm Potential...Heavy Rain Potential. MONDAY...Thunderstorm Potential. TUESDAY through THURSDAY...No Hazards. EXTENDED DISCUSSION... A strong upper level storm system will shift into the central Plains on Saturday with a cold front moving into northeast Oklahoma by late afternoon. Strong to severe thunderstorms will likely develop along the front by late afternoon or early evening. Large hail and damaging winds will be likely in the stronger storms, including a limited tornado threat, especially with any discrete storms that initially develop. In addition, very heavy rainfall is again expected as these storms spread southeast overnight with a continued flooding threat. As the cold front moves into southeast Oklahoma Sunday afternoon a few strong to severe thunderstorms will again be possible before storms shift slowly south Sunday evening into the overnight hours. EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT PLANNING STATEMENT... Severe weather is likely across portions of northeast Oklahoma late Saturday afternoon into Saturday evening, including the potential for heavy rainfall and localized flooding.
