...Rising Water Levels on Interior Rivers this Weekend... Temperatures warming into the 70`s over the Memorial Day weekend will result in increased snowmelt runoff from higher elevations. This will bring rising water levels to Interior rivers that still have a significant snowpack in their headwaters. This includes rivers draining the Alaska Range and the Tanana-Yukon Uplands. Water levels may be near bankfull in some low-lying areas but flooding is not expected. People recreating on or near Interior rivers should be cautious of rising water levels, gravel bars covered with water, strong currents, and increased debris moving downstream while water levels remain high.
