THURSDAY...
* WHAT...Flooding caused by rapid snowmelt continues due to warmer
temperatures.
* WHERE...Including the following area, Copper River Basin.
* WHEN...Until 200 PM AKDT Thursday Jun 02.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding is occurring along portions of Lake
Louise Road. The Gulkana River is also near or at bank-full.
Expect near bank-full conditions on other area rivers and streams
due to snowmelt.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 119 PM AKDT, Alaska DOT officials report there is still
water across Lake Louise Road at milepost 16.5 and is
blocking the road. High water will continue erosion concerns
for area streams and rivers including the Copper River.
- For Gakona River near Gakona:
At 1:00pm the stage was 6.61 feet.
Flood Stage is 10.0 feet.
Forecast: A crest around 6.8 feet is expected around 10:00pm
Saturday.
- For Gulkana River at Sourdough:
At 12:15pm the stage was 12.49 feet.
Flood Stage is 11.0 feet.
Forecast: A crest around 12.5 feet is expected around 10:00pm
Thursday.
