* WHAT...Locally hottest temperatures are forecast for these
areas on Friday with highs in the 90s to locally 100s.
* WHERE...North Bay Interior Valleys, San Francisco Bay
Shoreline and Santa Cruz Mountains. Areas of greatest concern
are areas away from the immediate coast in the San Francisco
Bay Shoreline and northern most portions of the North Bay
* WHEN...From 11 AM to 9 PM PDT Friday.
* IMPACTS...Elevated heat will increase the potential for heat
related illnesses, particularly among vulnerable populations
and those working outdoors or in areas without air
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Friday is forecast to be the warmest day
for the North Bay valleys, San Francisco Bay shoreline, and
Santa Cruz mountains. Additional heat advisories may be
warranted throughout the duration of the event.
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out
of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young
children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles
under any circumstances.
Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When
possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when
possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational
Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent
rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone
overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.
