This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of north central
Illinois...northwest Illinois...west central Illinois...east
central Iowa...northeast Iowa...southeast Iowa and northeast
Missouri.
.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT
A cold front will move into east central Iowa tonight with showers
and thunderstorms expected to develop along and ahead of the cold
front. The Storm Prediction Center has a Slight Risk of severe
thunderstorms west of a line from Sigourney to Iowa City to
Dubuque. A Marginal Risk extends to the east of that line
stretching from Keosaqua to the Quad Cities to Dubuque. The main
threats will be damaging winds, hail, heavy rain, and frequent
lightning.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...FRIDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY
The cold front will move through the area Friday morning, with a
renewed risk of showers and thunderstorms along it Friday evening.
The Storm Prediction Center has a Slight Risk for severe
thunderstorms mainly along and east of the Mississippi. There is
considerable uncertainty on storm development, as a strong cap
will be in place aloft. If storms do develop, the primary risks
are large hail and damaging wind gusts.
