...Thunderstorms With Locally Heavy Rainfall Early Today...
An area of showers and thunderstorms continues to move east across
the region early today. Rainfall estimates across southern Story
County to southern Marshall County range from 1 to 2 inches. Some
of these areas have seen rainfall rates in excess of 3 to 4 inches
per hour for about 30 minutes.
Early this morning, expect to see a period of heavy rainfall and
low visibility during the morning commute; specifically for
eastern Jasper and Marshall Counties through 530 am, much of
Poweshiek County through 6 am and much of southern Tama County
through 615 am. Ponding of water on area highways, streets and
interstates may lead to briefly poor travel conditions as well.
If out and about early this morning, please be aware of the
rainfall and potential for some early morning travel impacts
during the morning commute through around 630 am this morning.
Drive carefully and slow down.
