The National Weather Service in New Orleans/Baton Rouge has issued a * Flood Warning for The East Hobolochitto Creek Near Caesar. * Until Thursday June 20. * At 12:45 PM Tuesday the stage was 4.3 feet. * Moderate flooding is forecast. * Flood stage is 15.0 feet. * Forecast...Due to all the heavy rainfall this morning, the river is forecast to rise above flood stage after midnight early Wednesday morning June 19 and continue to rise to near 17.0 feet around noon Wednesday June 19. The river will fall below flood stage by Thursday June 20. * Impact...At 17.0 feet...Moderate flooding in areas near the stream in Picayune. Water will be in garages of several homes between MS Highway 43 and Beech Street bridge. Northwood Drive will be impassable with some homes flooded. * Impact...At 15.0 feet...Water over a few roads in the city of Picayune will cause traffic problems. School bus traffic may need alternate routes. A few homes on Northwood Drive will be threatened. Beech Street and Westchester Subdivision below the confluence of the east and west branches is subject to flooding in low places. * Impact...At 12.0 feet...Water will pool on isolated low areas of unimproved roads near the creek. The National Weather Service in New Orleans has issued a * Flood Warning for Urban Areas and Small Streams in... Pearl River County in southern Mississippi... * Until 430 PM CDT. * At 124 PM CDT, the public reported flooding waters over Highway 26 east of Poplarville near Murder Creek. Other small creek issues may exist across Pearl River county. Radar estimated 4 to 6 inches of rainfall across parts of Pearl River county. * Some locations that will experience flooding include... Picayune, Poplarville, Crossroads and Mcneil. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying spots. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads.
