This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of southwest North
Carolina...east Tennessee and southwest Virginia.
.DAY ONE...This Afternoon and Tonight
Hot and muggy conditions will continue this afternoon. Heat index
values will be near 100 to 105 degrees mainly across the
Tennessee Valley and the lower elevations of southwest Virginia. The
combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to
create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible and heat
safety precautions should be observed. To learn more about heat

Scattered afternoon thunderstorms will occur this afternoon and
could produce locally heavy rain leading to flash flooding.
Strong and gusty winds can also be anticipated with the stronger
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Sunday through Friday
For Sunday, scattered afternoon thunderstorms will once again
develop, especially during the afternoon and evening hours. The
stronger storms could produce strong/gusty winds and locally
heavy rain leading to flash flooding.
A frontal boundary will move into the region late Monday and
Monday night. Some of these storms may be strong on Monday
afternoon and Monday night producing strong and gusty winds,
heavy rainfall rates, and frequent lightning. With the heavy
rainfall rates, flash flooding will be possible Monday afternoon
and Monday night.
