...Strong thunderstorms will impact portions of Alamance, southern
Person, Vance, Warren, Orange, Granville, northwestern Halifax,
northern Durham and northern Franklin Counties through 330 PM EDT...
At 224 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from 7 miles north of Norlina to near Oxford to
Graham. Movement was east at 25 mph.
HAZARD...Winds in excess of 40 mph and half inch hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is
possible.
Locations impacted include...
Durham, Burlington, Roanoke Rapids, Henderson, Graham, Oxford,
Hillsborough, Creedmoor, Warrenton and Mebane.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Strong winds may occur well ahead of any rain or lightning. Move
indoors at the first sign of threatening skies or the first sound of
thunder. Deadly lightning strikes can occur well ahead of an
approaching storm. Make sure that lightning is well away from your
location before resuming outdoor activity.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 900 PM EDT for
central North Carolina.
