...EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM WEDNESDAY TO 7 PM CDT FRIDAY... * HEAT INDEX VALUES...Up to 109 due to temperatures around 100, and dewpoints around 70. * TIMING...Wednesday afternoon through at least Friday evening and could linger into part of Saturday. * IMPACTS...The heat and humidity may cause heat stress during outdoor exertion or extended exposure. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... An Excessive Heat Warning means that a prolonged period of dangerously hot temperatures will occur. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will create a dangerous situation in which heat illnesses are likely. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. &&

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of southwest Iowa...east central Nebraska...northeast Nebraska and southeast Nebraska. .DAY ONE...Tonight and Wednesday Thunderstorm chances will increase through the evening hours, particularly across northeast Nebraska and southwest Iowa. Severe storms are not likely but a few of the stronger storms could contain strong winds. Flooding will continue on the Missouri River, from around Plattsmouth southward to Rulo, and also above Lewis and Clark Lake. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday night through Tuesday An Excessive Heat Warning is in effect for southeast Nebraska and southwest Iowa through Friday. Heat index values should peak each afternoon in the 100 to 109 degree range. Thunderstorms will be possible Wednesday night, Saturday night and again Sunday night. Chances should be highest across northeast Nebraska. Flooding will continue on the Missouri River, from around Plattsmouth southward to Rulo, and also above Lewis and Clark Lake. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... Spotter activation is not expected tonight or Wednesday.
