...HIGH WIND WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM MDT FRIDAY... * WHAT...Southwest winds 35 to 45 mph with gusts over 50. Some gusts up to 65 mph possible over higher elevations overnight. * WHERE...Portions of south-central and southwestern New Mexico and far west Texas. This includes the Sacramento mountains, the Black Range and highlands of the Gila region. In addition. lowland locations and slopes east of the San Andres, Organ, and Franklin mountain ridges. * WHEN...Overnight through 6 AM MDT Friday. * IMPACTS...Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The strongest winds are expected through the late evening hours, especially in areas along the eastern slopes of mountains. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... People should avoid being outside in forested areas and around trees and branches. If possible, remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows. Use caution if you must drive. &&

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of south central New Mexico, southwest New Mexico, and southwest Texas. .DAY ONE...Today and Tonight Strong winds are expected today with southwest winds of 30 to 45 mph with wind gusts of 50 to 70 mph. We will likely see areas of blowing dust along I-10 east and west of Deming and in El Paso and Hudspeth Counties.
