This hazardous weather outlook is for portions of north and central
.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight
Scattered to numerous thunderstorms are expected again this afternoon
and tonight, initially favoring the mountains, before moving over
lower elevations late today. Storm motions will be slow and may lead
to localized areas of flooding, especially over and near recent and
older burn scars. A few storms may also produce small hail and wind
gusts to 50 mph.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday
A downtick in storm coverage is expected Wednesday across northwest
and portions of central New Mexico, and across all of northern New
Mexico Thursday and Friday. Storms will remain possible across the
northeast on Wednesday, and areas south of I-40 Wednesday through
Friday. Storms will move slowly, which may result in locally heavy
rainfall. This will again pose a threat to recent burn scars.
Additionally, temperatures will soar area wide during this period,
with triple digit heat likely across the plains. Remember to stay
hydrated and take frequent breaks if working outdoors.
