This hazardous weather outlook is for portions of north and central
.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight
Scattered to numerous thunderstorms are expected this afternoon
through through tonight for areas along and east of the central
mountain chain as well as the southwest mountains. Storm motions
across the southwest mountains will be slow and may lead to heavy
rainfall and flooding over and near recent burn scars. Across eastern
New Mexico, a few storms may produce small hail and wind gusts to 50
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday
A downtick in storm coverage is expected Thursday through Saturday,
but will remain possible over the southwest and south central
mountains. Storm motions will remain slow, thus localized heavy
rainfall is possible. The main concern Thursday through Saturday,
however, is the heat. High temperatures will be up to 12 degrees
above normal. Triple digit heat is likely for portions of the eastern
plains and Rio Grande Valley. Remember to stay hydrated and take
frequent breaks if working outdoors.
Storm coverage will increase across New Mexico on Sunday and continue
into next week. Locally heavy rainfall and flooding will be possible.
