...HIGH WIND WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM THURSDAY TO 6 AM MDT FRIDAY... * WHAT...Southwest winds 35 to 45 mph with gusts up to 70 mph expected. * WHERE...Portions of south-central and southwestern New Mexico and far west Texas. * WHEN...From 1 PM Thursday to 6 AM MDT Friday. * IMPACTS...Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The strongest winds are expected during the mid-afternoon, especially in areas along the eastern slopes of mountains. Blowing dust may become widespread by early afternoon over desert areas, with local visibilities down to one mile or less. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... People should avoid being outside in forested areas and around trees and branches. If possible, remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows.
