...COASTAL FLOOD STATEMENT NOW IN EFFECT THROUGH SATURDAY AFTERNOON... * WHAT...Up to 1/2 ft of inundation above ground level expected in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline around the times of high tide. * WHERE...Southwest Suffolk and Southeast Suffolk Counties. * WHEN...Through Saturday afternoon. * COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS...Brief minor flooding of the most vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline. * BEACH EROSION AND FLOODING IMPACTS...Breaking waves of 4 to 7 ft will cause significant beach erosion and escarpment, with scattered areas of beach flooding and dune erosion during the time of high tide. The potential for localized overwashes is low. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Minor flooding may also be possible around the time of high tide Sunday morning. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
