This Outlook is for Northwest and West Central Arkansas as well as much of Eastern Oklahoma. .DAY ONE...This Afternoon and Tonight. SEVERE THUNDERSTORM. RISK...Limited. AREA...Far Northeast Oklahoma and Northwest Arkansas. ONSET...Ongoing. HEAVY RAIN. RISK...Limited. AREA... Northeast Oklahoma and Southeast Oklahoma. ONSET...Ongoing. DISCUSSION... Ongoing elevated showers and thunderstorms should gradually decrease in coverage and intensity over the next several hours. The severe threat has mostly diminished across the area, with the exception of some possible gusty winds with a complex of storms moving through far northeast Oklahoma and into Northwest Arkansas. Otherwise, heavy rainfall will be the primary threat with any storms left through the afternoon hours. Storms should decrease and clear out of the area by later this afternoon, with a mostly dry period expected through the rest of tonight. SPOTTER AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ACTION STATEMENT... Local Spotter Activation May Be Needed. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday. SATURDAY AND SUNDAY...Severe Thunderstorm Potential...Heavy Rain Potential. MONDAY...Thunderstorm Potential. TUESDAY THROUGH THURSDAY...No Hazards. EXTENDED DISCUSSION... A stronger upper level storm system will shift into the central Plains on Saturday with a cold front moving into northeast Oklahoma by late afternoon. Strong to severe thunderstorms will likely develop along the front by late afternoon or early evening. Large hail and damaging winds will be likely in the stronger storms, including a limited tornado threat, especially with any discrete storms that initially develop. In addition, very heavy rainfall is again expected as these storms spread southeast overnight with a continued flooding threat. As the cold front moves into southeast Oklahoma Sunday afternoon a few strong to severe thunderstorms will again be possible before storms shift slowly south Sunday evening into the overnight hours. EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT PLANNING STATEMENT... Severe weather is likely across portions of northeast Oklahoma late Saturday afternoon into Saturday evening, including the potential for heavy rainfall and localized flooding.
