...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT FRIDAY... ...BLIZZARD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM FRIDAY TO 4 AM CDT SATURDAY... * WHAT...For the Winter Weather Advisory, mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations of up to one inch and ice accumulations up to a quarter inch. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph. For the Blizzard Warning, blizzard conditions expected. Additional snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches. Winds gusting as high as 50 mph. * WHERE...Portions of southwest Minnesota and east central South Dakota. * WHEN...For the Winter Weather Advisory, from 1 AM to 7 PM CDT Friday. For the Blizzard Warning, from 7 PM Friday to 4 AM CDT Saturday. * IMPACTS...Power outages and tree damage are possible due to the ice. Travel could be nearly impossible. Widespread blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Travel should be restricted to emergencies only. If you must travel, have a winter survival kit with you. If you get stranded, stay with your vehicle. This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of northwest Iowa, west central Iowa, southwest Minnesota, northeast Nebraska, central South Dakota, east central South Dakota, south central South Dakota, and southeast South Dakota. .DAY ONE...Tonight Isolated storms are expected this evening and into the overnight hours. Some storms could be severe with large hail up to the size of quarters. Brief heavy rain is possible in these storms. Frozen precipitation in the form of freezing drizzle will begin to move into the area tonight, mainly along and northwest of a Lake Andes, SD to Madison, SD to Marshal, MN line. East of this line will be rain for the rest of the overnight hours. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday Any freezing drizzle will be transitioning to snow through the morning hours on Friday. This transition will march its way east throughout the day on Friday, flipping any falling precipitation over to snow. Strong northwesterly winds with gusts up to around 50 mph will accompany the falling snow, leading to Blizzard to near Blizzard conditions Friday afternoon into Saturday.
