This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of southwest North Carolina...east Tennessee and southwest Virginia. .DAY ONE...Today and Tonight Periods of showers and thunderstorms are expected today and tonight. Some storms may become strong to severe this afternoon, with damaging winds being the primary threat. An isolated tornado is also possible. Very heavy rainfall can be expected with the stronger storms, which could lead to flooding. A Flood Watch is in effect for portions of the area. Strong southerly winds can be expected in the higher elevations and foothills of the East Tennessee mountains, with gusts to near 50 mph possible in some spots.
