This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of south central New Mexico, southwest New Mexico, and southwest Texas. .DAY ONE...Today and Tonight Strong winds are expected today with southwest winds of 30 to 45 mph with wind gusts of 50 to 70 mph. We will likely see areas of blowing dust along I-10 east and west of Deming and in El Paso and Hudspeth Counties. The winds will be slow to die off, especially east of area mountains. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday More wind will be possible Monday and Tuesday. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... Spotter activation will not be needed.

...HIGH WIND WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 9 PM MDT THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Southwest winds 30 to 45 mph with gusts up to 65 mph expected. * WHERE...Portions of south-central and southwestern New Mexico and far west Texas. * WHEN...From 1 PM to 9 PM MDT Thursday. * IMPACTS...Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The strongest winds are expected during the mid-afternoon, especially in areas along the eastern slopes of mountains. Blowing dust may become widespread in the afternoon, with local visibilities down to one mile or less. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... People should avoid being outside in forested areas and around trees and branches. If possible, remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows.
