WEATHER ALERT
Issue Date: 242 PM CDT Thu May 19 2022
This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for the South Plains, Rolling
Plains, and the far Southern Texas Panhandle.
.DAY ONE...This afternoon and tonight.
Hot temperatures from 98 to 103 on the Caprock and 104 to 108 over
the Rolling Plains were occurring this afternoon. The combination of
hot temperatures, low relative humidity, and southwest breezes will
result in elevated fire weather conditions late this afternoon and
early this evening. A Fire Danger Statement remains in effect through
8 PM CDT for the entire area.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday.
Friday will bring another bout of hot, dry, and breezy conditions. A
Red Flag Warning is in effect Friday from 11 AM until 8 PM CDT for
all but the northern Rolling Plains. A chance for thunderstorms, some
of which could be severe and capable of producing heavy rain, exists
throughout the early to middle part of next week across West Texas.
Otherwise, the probability for widespread hazardous weather is low on
Friday and this weekend.
