...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 415 PM CDT THIS AFTERNOON... * WHAT...Arroyo and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of Deep South Texas, including the following county, Starr. * WHEN...Until 415 PM CDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Rises in small streams and normally dry arroyos. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 322 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause arroyo and small stream flooding. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... mainly rural areas of Northwestern Starr County - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... At 310 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near La Gloria, or 10 miles south of Agua Nueva, moving east at 15 mph. HAZARD...Winds in excess of 40 mph and nickel size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include... San Manuel, Mccook, Linn, Puerto Rico, La Gloria, La Reforma, Santa Catarina, San Isidro, Santa Elena and Delmita. This includes US Highway 281 between mile markers 750 and 758. This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of Deep South Texas. .DAY ONE...This Afternoon and Tonight A Severe Thunderstorms Watch is in effect until 6 pm for Jim Hogg, Brooks, Starr, Kenedy, Willacy, Hidalgo and Cameron counties. Strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible into this evening producing large hail, damaging winds, heavy rainfall and isolated tornadoes. There is a marginal risk of excessive rainfall for the eastern and central portions of Deep South Texas and the Rio Grande Valley. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday Heat index values of 105 to 110 degrees are expected Thursday through Sunday. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... Residents are requested to report any observations of large hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes to local law enforcement and the National Weather Service office in Brownsville.
