...HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM NOON TO 8 PM EDT SATURDAY... This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for northern New York, central Vermont, northwest Vermont and southern Vermont. .DAY ONE...Today and tonight. Hazardous weather is not expected at this time. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday. Please listen to NOAA Weather Radio or go to weather.gov on the Internet for more information about the following hazards. Heat Advisory. A few isolated thunderstorms are possible on Saturday afternoon and if any thunderstorms can develop, they have the potential to become strong or severe. Showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop along a cold front on Sunday afternoon and evening. Scattered strong to severe thunderstorms are possible with damaging winds and hail up to 1 inch in diameter as the primary threats. The highest potential for thunderstorms will be after 2 PM on Sunday. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... Spotter activation is not expected at this time.

...HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM NOON TO 8 PM EDT SATURDAY... * WHAT...Heat index values near 95 expected. * WHERE...In Vermont, Western Chittenden, Western Addison, Western Rutland and Eastern Windsor Counties. In New York, Eastern Essex County. * WHEN...From noon to 8 PM EDT Saturday. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses to occur. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The highest heat index values will occur between 1 PM and 5 PM on Saturday. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
